The duration of the RTP scholarships is a maximum of two years for research masters or a minimum of three years for a research doctorate degree. The coverage of the scholarships includes one or more of the following types of support to a student: 

• RTP Fees Offset. This pays for the tuition fees of a higher degree by research that a student would normally be required to pay. This means that the university equals the tuition fee applicable to the student.

• RTP Allowances. This allowance helps students with the costs of the degree, meaning it will pay for the costs of relocation, thesis printing and academic publication costs, as well as health cover costs. 

To be eligible for this scholarship, the student should be a student at an accredited HDR course of study at one of the participating Australian higher education providers.

The benefits of the scholarship include full fee offset for up to two years for Masters by Research students and up to four years for doctoral degree students. The benefits also include: 

• Overseas Student Health Cover (for internationals on a student visa).
• Living allowance of $31,200 per year (two years for Masters by Research students, 3.5 years for doctoral students).
• Relocation grant ($2000 for students moving from States or Territories other than Victoria, and $3000 for students arriving from outside of Australia).

If you are a new student or have applied for a graduate research course, you are not required to apply for this scholarship since you will be automatically considered. Otherwise, you will have to submit an application on the university’s website.

Macquarie University International Scholarships

The Macquarie University Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship is awarded by the university to academically excellent international students. The scholarship provides up to AUD $10,000 applied towards your tuition fee. Eligible students must come from a country other than Australia or New Zealand, they must meet the academic and English requirements for a bachelor or postgraduate degree at Macquarie University. Moreover, they must be accepted into the university, as well as achieve a minimum of WAM equivalent of 65 for postgraduate applications, and a minimum ATAR equivalent of 85 for undergraduate applications.

This scholarship is highly competitive and awarded on the basis of academic merit. 

Adelaide Scholarships International

This growth was followed by a significant drop in 2013 (416,693 international students) to regain its growth trend in 2014 when 428,724 were seeking a degree in UK. Finally, in 2015, there were 430,687 foreigners studying in this country. In terms of percentage, between 2011 and 2015 the number of international students in UK grew by only 2.5%.

Regarding the most recent international student data by the Department of Education in Australia the number of foreigners studying in this country has exceeded half a million. As of April 2018, this Department states that there were 548,411 international students studying in Australia, 12% more than during the same period in the previous year.

With this being said, is easy to conclude that if this pace of growth remains at this level, Australia will surpass the UK as the second most favorite study destinations. In fact, with more exact estimations of international students in both countries soon to be released, many believed that this shift of positions has already happened.

Just 9,022 of them gave enough contact details of their supervisors, an increase by 7 percent when compared with 2016. However the team could only get 4,348 valid surveys from supervisors, a percentage of 48.2 of them.

The survey was filled online and by the phone; 2,081 of valid surveys were completed online and 2,267 completed over the phone.

In overall, employers seem to be very satisfied, with 83.6 percent declared to be satisfied with Australian graduate students.

As the graph below shows, 86.7 percent of employers are content with their Postgraduate research employees and less content with coursework postgraduates(82.3 %).

Postgraduate research students were specially applauded for their adapting skills. 95.2 percent of surveyed employers said they were satisfied with Postgraduate research students’ adapting abilities on what they were asked to do. While with Postgraduate coursework students the satisfaction over adapting abilities were at 90.5 percent.

Employers were also content with postgraduates’ technical skills. 96.4 percent of the respondent employers were satisfied with Postgraduates research employees’ technical skills .

This survey is yet another argument that Australian educational system is very effective at the moment. The country have already surpassed a half million of foreign students in 2017. In May 2017, Oceania’s country exceeded half million international students (502,544), 14 percent more than in the same period in 2016.

Up to the October 2017, Australia had 606,780 foreign students, that is 13 percent more than October 2016. This means that during May to October 2017, 104,236 new international students came to Australia.
